Scope of application

These fencing socks may only be used for the practice of fencing according to the rules of the International Fencing Federation (FIE) or the respective national fencing federation.

Selecting the correct level of performance for protective equipment for fencers should be in accordance with the regulations of the relevant national fencing federation. We strongly recommend, in all cases, using only fencing protective gear of the highest level of performance (EN 13567: 2002 + A1: 2007 Level 2).

Please refer to the table on our website to determine the correct size of the fencing socks. The size should be chosen so that the socks cover the entire shin and extend above the knee.

The zones of protection of the fencing socks are shown in the figure:

When putting on the fencing socks, ensure that the top edge of the sock is covered by the elastic band of the fencing trousers. No skin should be visible.

Warnings

  • Fencing, as a combat sport that involves physical contact with fencing weapons, is inherently dangerous. The purpose of fencing protective equipment is to prevent injuries as much as possible or, at worst, to minimize the severity of injuries, particularly from the weapon’s tip.
  • Broken blades present a particular risk. The circumstances of a blade breakage may result in high tip velocities and consequent high energy impacts by the broken blade. It is known that broken blades can penetrate protective clothing with potentially fatal consequences.
  • Fencing protective gear cannot guarantee complete protection against injuries, especially from broken blades. The protective function of fencing socks is limited to reducing superficial injuries such as abrasions and bruises.
  • Protective equipment must not be changed or manipulated. In particular, seams should not be unstitched, and no parts should be added or removed.
  • Care instructions must be strictly followed. Non-compliance can reduce the level of protection of the equipment. Fencing protective equipment should be regularly inspected carefully for mechanical damage (abrasions, tears, holes, torn seams). If such damage is detected, the protective effectiveness may be compromised, and the protective equipment must no longer be used.

Cleaning, Care, and Storage

The fencing socks are washable at 60°C on a gentle cycle. They should not be spun or tumble-dried. Store in a cool, dry place without direct light exposure.

Conformity

The garment doesn’t contain any substances at levels known or suspected to affect the health or hygiene of the user in the foreseeable conditions of normal use. The garment complies to basic health and safety requirements of the Regulation (EU) 2016/425 on personal protective equipment (PPE).
